The real question is, what is your son doing with mine? Henry was back from the trip with Emma and Gold; and all Regina wanted to do was spend some quality time with her son. She would take him out to lunch, and they would catch up on everything that had been going on in their respective lives... and maybe he would see that she was trying her hardest to be a better person. However, as much as she wished for that to happen Regina was still left on the sidelines. That day, her only means to see her son was from a distance while he was playing in the park. Regina was not the only one watching, and when she saw who Henry was with she understood why Rumplestiltskin was there. The former Queen approached the imp, and from their brief conversation she was shocked to learn that Gold's son was Henry's birth father. She was furious, but mostly hurt because neither Emma nor anyone else thought of telling her.As she left Rumple in the park, Regina did the one thing she thought was best at the moment. She went looking for Emma, who she found sitting at the docks. It did not take long for their conversation to take an unpleasant turn. The Saviour was hiding something else from Regina, and the former Queen was determined to find out what. By the end of the day, she knew exactly what the heroes were hiding from her - a field of magic beans. Upset by the day's happenings, Regina plucked a few beans and burnt the rest of the plantation. Then, with her new treasure safely stowed in her pockets, Regina drove back into town. Before going home she had one more social call to make. She needed to meet Baelfire, and discover his intentions towards Henry. Regina was afraid that with him back in the picture, Emma would take her son away from her for good.She had no idea where Neal was staying, but since he had spent the day with Henry she figured that at some point he would visit Snow's loft. Therefore, she parked her car at the end of the street and waited. Soon enough Regina saw Neal walk up to the apartments with Henry passed out over his shoulder. Overwhelmed by protectiveness towards her son, the brunette tensed up and gripped the steering wheel to stop herself from casting any magic. Closing her eyes, she took several deep breaths in attempt to calm herself down - and once she was sufficiently relaxed, Regina loosened her hold and leaned back in the seat. Time continued to tick away and it was starting to get late, but still Neal did not re-emerge from the loft. Regina was about to give up, when the sound of an opening door caught her attention. Sitting up, she leaned forward and peered through the dashboard for any signs of movement. ♛ Notes: Dress, Coat & Scarf tag Neal Cassidy credits .redhandtemp { position: relative;font-family:'Roboto Condensed',sans-serif; width:375px; margin: 0 auto 30px; padding:20px; text-align:center; background-image:url(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7160153/pic/furley_bg.png); border:5px solid #FFF; box-shadow:0 0 0 1px #E7E7E7; } .redhandtemp img { max-width:375px; display:block; margin:0 auto 30px; border:5px solid #FFF; box-shadow:0 0 0 1px #E7E7E7; } .redhandtemp h1, .redhandtemp h2, .redhandtemp h3 { font-weight:normal; margin:0; padding:0; line-height:1em; text-shadow:1px 1px #FFF; } .redhandtemp h1, .redhandtemp h3 { font-size:13px; font-family:'Monda', sans-serif; text-transform:uppercase; letter-spacing:0.2em; margin:0 0 -5px; color:#474747; } .redhandtemp h2 { color:#842521; border-bottom:1px solid; margin:0 0; height: 21px; line-height: 25px; } .redhandtemp h2 span { background-image: url(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7160153/pic/furley_bg.png); padding:0 15px; text-transform:lowercase; position:relative; top:8px; font-size:22px; font-family:'Great Vibes',cursive; } .redhandtemp h3 { letter-spacing:0.05em; margin-top:16px; }.redhandtemp p { color: #333; text-align:justify; font-size:12px; padding:0 10px; }.redhandtemp p:last-of-type { margin-bottom:30px; } .redhandtemp p:first-of-type { margin-top:42px; } .redhandtemp b,.redhandtemp q { color:#9F2F2B; font-weight:normal; text-shadow: 1px 1px #FFF} .zeddit { position: absolute; bottom: -30px; left: 0; right: 0; }

Neal had arrived in Storybrooke, and, yes he could've gone back to New York the moment he knew his father was ok again. But, he had made the decision not to leave. It wasn't because of his father, not a chance, it was because of a brown haired boy who had needed something that he never gotten growing up. His son who he already loved more then anything. That boy needed a father, which is the only reason he'd stayed in Storybrooke, it certainly wasn't for the father that abandoned him. This was the first real day that he was bonding with his son, and, he had taken two swords with him to the park. In order to teach Henry some skills that he'd learnt as a kid as well. Neal suspected that they weren't alone out here, but, he wasn't focusing on anything else aside from being with his son right now.

He loved the fact that he now had a chance at family. The one thing he'd wanted all those years ago. When he was in the foster system, he had watched so many others with their parents and it had just made him sadder. Especially when he had memories of how happy he'd been with his, before he'd lost them through abandonment or a sacrifice to keep them safe. But, despite making the choice to leave Emma, somehow he'd found it again anyway. He didn't blame Emma for not telling him about Henry, if anything he blamed August. The man had been watching Emma and knew about him, during all their time hanging out in New York, and, hadn't said a word. Neal would have a word with August about that later. It didn't mean that he wouldn't try and get to know his son, that was never going to be the case. This was turning out to be one of the best days he'd had in a long time, just being with someone who cared about him, and, having some fun. So maybe it was a good thing that he'd come back to his apartment to help Emma with his father's deal, if he hadn't, then none of this other stuff would be happening now. It did mean now though, that Neal was sticking around for a while. He wanted to get to know his son, but, he wasn't going to take him away from this place that had been where he'd been his whole life.

The fight had stopped, and, he smiled as Henry had seemed to have fallen asleep. Neal placed the swords onto his belt loops, before placing Henry over his shoulder and carrying him back to Emma's house. Neal didn't know that he was still being watched, but, right now he was just focusing on getting Henry back home to his mother. Neal had been talking to Emma for a bit, and, then knew it was probably getting a bit late. So, he kissed his son goodnight on the forehead, before heading out of the loft, and, began to walk back to his room at Granny's, whistling as he walked.

The real question is, what is your son doing with mine? Before long, through narrowed eyes, Regina saw Baelfire walking down the street and in her direction. "Hmph... about time too," she grumbled underneath her breath. Frankly the brunette could not understand why anyone would want to spend so much time with saint Emma, unless the two were cooking up a devious plan to take Henry away from Storybrooke. The thought alone filled her with rage; and as Regina stepped out of her car, she slammed the door shut with more force than necessary. Cringing at the loud sound, she then squared her shoulders and plastered her best fake smile which she usually reserved for politics.Sauntering up the road, she met Baelfire halfway and stopped him with a rhetorical hello. She then extended her arm towards him, offering it for a hand shake. "You must be... Baelfire?" she said; and then added with a laugh, "Don't worry. I am not a stalker. It's my job to know every face in town. My name is Regina Mills, and I am the Mayor of this town." Fighting the urge to fold her arms over her chest and scrutinise him, Regina rolled her shoulders back and tried to appear as relaxed as possible. "How do you like Storybrooke so far?" she asked pleasantly, wondering if he was staying with Rumplestiltskin. ♛ Notes: Dress, Coat & Scarf tag Neal Cassidy credits .redhandtemp { position: relative;font-family:'Roboto Condensed',sans-serif; width:375px; margin: 0 auto 30px; padding:20px; text-align:center; background-image:url(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7160153/pic/furley_bg.png); border:5px solid #FFF; box-shadow:0 0 0 1px #E7E7E7; } .redhandtemp img { max-width:375px; display:block; margin:0 auto 30px; border:5px solid #FFF; box-shadow:0 0 0 1px #E7E7E7; } .redhandtemp h1, .redhandtemp h2, .redhandtemp h3 { font-weight:normal; margin:0; padding:0; line-height:1em; text-shadow:1px 1px #FFF; } .redhandtemp h1, .redhandtemp h3 { font-size:13px; font-family:'Monda', sans-serif; text-transform:uppercase; letter-spacing:0.2em; margin:0 0 -5px; color:#474747; } .redhandtemp h2 { color:#842521; border-bottom:1px solid; margin:0 0; height: 21px; line-height: 25px; } .redhandtemp h2 span { background-image: url(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7160153/pic/furley_bg.png); padding:0 15px; text-transform:lowercase; position:relative; top:8px; font-size:22px; font-family:'Great Vibes',cursive; } .redhandtemp h3 { letter-spacing:0.05em; margin-top:16px; }.redhandtemp p { color: #333; text-align:justify; font-size:12px; padding:0 10px; }.redhandtemp p:last-of-type { margin-bottom:30px; } .redhandtemp p:first-of-type { margin-top:42px; } .redhandtemp b,.redhandtemp q { color:#9F2F2B; font-weight:normal; text-shadow: 1px 1px #FFF} .zeddit { position: absolute; bottom: -30px; left: 0; right: 0; }

As Neal continued to walk, he looked around this town, and, just smiled softly. This place was different to what he'd lived in in the past, but, he was smiling, because he'd had fun with his son. His son, that was something he still wasn't used to saying. And, the fact that Emma was back in his life as well. That was enough to make him want to put up being close to his father again. Neal just continued to walk, and, he heard a door slam not too far away. But, that was a noise he was used to hearing.

He wasn't far from the Bed and Breakfast when he heard someone behind him. Neal turned around and noticed a woman standing there, with her hand already out. “Hi” Neal said, as he took her hand and shook it in return, before putting his hands back in his pockets. “Well if you really did your research as mayor then you would know that I go by Neal these days. I stopped being Baelfire a long time ago. But, it's nice to meet you too.” Neal sighed softly and, then just looked around awkwardly, not sure what this conversation was going to be about. “It's alright. Nothing like New York though. It's alot... quieter and cosier. The staff at the Bed and Breakfast are nice enough though.”

The real question is, what is your son doing with mine? His handshake was firm, and Regina had to admit that she was pleasantly surprised - especially when taking into consideration who his father was. Then again, he might have been fortunate enough to inherit most of his mother's genes. Stopping herself from getting distracted by her own thoughts, Regina gave her head a slight shake and smiled politely at Neal. What little respect his handshake had earned him, he immediately lost it the moment he pocketed his hands. Eyeing him from head to toe with a faltering smile, Regina noticed his slouching posture - and as if to make up for his faults, she straightened her own back and looked him in the eyes. His reply annoyed her, but once again she thought back to his lineage and this time she knew exactly who was to blame for that trait. "My apologies," she replied through clenched teeth, "I can understand why you'd want to change your name..." Then on second thought she added half-heartedly, "... after everything that you have been through." Neal started to glance around with an uncomfortable expression, and Regina hoped she would get the credit for it. Maybe that would be one of the factors which would ultimately drive him out of Storybrooke. "Quiet and cosy? Those are interesting terms for a town which tends to be more hectic than it seems," she replied. Folding her arms behind her back, Regina lifted her gaze to stare at the sky. "Has anyone even bothered to inform you that I am Henry's mother?" she questioned. ♛ Notes: Dress, Coat & Scarf tag Neal Cassidy credits .redhandtemp { position: relative;font-family:'Roboto Condensed',sans-serif; width:375px; margin: 0 auto 30px; padding:20px; text-align:center; background-image:url(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7160153/pic/furley_bg.png); border:5px solid #FFF; box-shadow:0 0 0 1px #E7E7E7; } .redhandtemp img { max-width:375px; display:block; margin:0 auto 30px; border:5px solid #FFF; box-shadow:0 0 0 1px #E7E7E7; } .redhandtemp h1, .redhandtemp h2, .redhandtemp h3 { font-weight:normal; margin:0; padding:0; line-height:1em; text-shadow:1px 1px #FFF; } .redhandtemp h1, .redhandtemp h3 { font-size:13px; font-family:'Monda', sans-serif; text-transform:uppercase; letter-spacing:0.2em; margin:0 0 -5px; color:#474747; } .redhandtemp h2 { color:#842521; border-bottom:1px solid; margin:0 0; height: 21px; line-height: 25px; } .redhandtemp h2 span { background-image: url(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7160153/pic/furley_bg.png); padding:0 15px; text-transform:lowercase; position:relative; top:8px; font-size:22px; font-family:'Great Vibes',cursive; } .redhandtemp h3 { letter-spacing:0.05em; margin-top:16px; }.redhandtemp p { color: #333; text-align:justify; font-size:12px; padding:0 10px; }.redhandtemp p:last-of-type { margin-bottom:30px; } .redhandtemp p:first-of-type { margin-top:42px; } .redhandtemp b,.redhandtemp q { color:#9F2F2B; font-weight:normal; text-shadow: 1px 1px #FFF} .zeddit { position: absolute; bottom: -30px; left: 0; right: 0; }

One thing Neal had been taught was how to greet people when they spoke to it. It had been pushed into him everytime he disrespected his foster parents, or the head lady of the orphanage or workhouses. But, a part of it was because of his mother. He would've kept his hands by his side, but, his instincts and life experience had told him it may be better to hide them away.

Neal wasn't really standing up straight much anymore. It was more of a defensive move as opposed to anything else. Watching the woman, Neal sighed softly and just didn't look at her. He wanted to make it clear that he wasn't Baelfire anymore. Neal Cassidy was who he was now. Hearing the woman respond he was sure that she wasn't being sincere in her apology.

Neal shook his head for a moment “You'd be the first.” Neal could tell there was something else behind it, and, the feelings were obvious on his face. It wasn't going to be something that was going to scare him away. “Well it seems kind of quiet to me. But, then again I'm comparing it to New York. A city that never looks quiet.” Neal said, as he kept his hands in his pockets, and, he adjusted the scarf that was around his neck.

“Yeah Henry told me. He wanted me to know everything that he had here. And, that included you. In a lot of the conversations actually.”

The real question is, what is your son doing with mine? Growing up a Princess, and later on becoming a Queen through marriage, Regina was accustomed to displaying proper manners. As a girl and throughout her teenage years she had never given much care to body language, however, in her new husband’s Court she soon learned that reading King Leopold’s unspoken words would come to save her a lot of grief. After his passing she continued practicing the acquired skill with her subjects in order to gain the upper hand over them – a competence which she was still guilty of indulging in. While regarding Neal with a raised eyebrow, the Mayor could tell that he was not convinced by her apology. She had made a poor effort of hiding it; and although she was being relatively polite, Regina wanted nothing more than to banish him (and Emma). The former Queen tried to turn over a new leaf, but she felt betrayed by Storybrooke’s so called heroes. They were not only keeping her in the dark, but also holding onto her son like a mother hen. She was the mother hen, and Henry was hers to take care of. Emma might have given birth to him but she had raised and loved him as her own. “Am I?” she questioned, “Perhaps that is because we have much more in common than either of us realises.” Offering a strained smile at his comment Regina replied, “With all due respect Mr. Cassidy, you have only been here a day. As the people of this realm would say… ‘Brace yourself’…” Her words, although cautionary, held an underlying threatening tone. Tearing her gaze away from the sky to look at Neal, her eyes widened slightly in surprise. She was glad that Emma and the Charmings hadn’t poisoned Henry so much against her that he’d stop mentioning her. “Then you must know who I am? Or rather who I was?” ♛ Notes: Dress, Coat & Scarf tag Neal Cassidy credits .redhandtemp { position: relative;font-family:'Roboto Condensed',sans-serif; width:375px; margin: 0 auto 30px; padding:20px; text-align:center; background-image:url(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7160153/pic/furley_bg.png); border:5px solid #FFF; box-shadow:0 0 0 1px #E7E7E7; } .redhandtemp img { max-width:375px; display:block; margin:0 auto 30px; border:5px solid #FFF; box-shadow:0 0 0 1px #E7E7E7; } .redhandtemp h1, .redhandtemp h2, .redhandtemp h3 { font-weight:normal; margin:0; padding:0; line-height:1em; text-shadow:1px 1px #FFF; } .redhandtemp h1, .redhandtemp h3 { font-size:13px; font-family:'Monda', sans-serif; text-transform:uppercase; letter-spacing:0.2em; margin:0 0 -5px; color:#474747; } .redhandtemp h2 { color:#842521; border-bottom:1px solid; margin:0 0; height: 21px; line-height: 25px; } .redhandtemp h2 span { background-image: url(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7160153/pic/furley_bg.png); padding:0 15px; text-transform:lowercase; position:relative; top:8px; font-size:22px; font-family:'Great Vibes',cursive; } .redhandtemp h3 { letter-spacing:0.05em; margin-top:16px; }.redhandtemp p { color: #333; text-align:justify; font-size:12px; padding:0 10px; }.redhandtemp p:last-of-type { margin-bottom:30px; } .redhandtemp p:first-of-type { margin-top:42px; } .redhandtemp b,.redhandtemp q { color:#9F2F2B; font-weight:normal; text-shadow: 1px 1px #FFF} .zeddit { position: absolute; bottom: -30px; left: 0; right: 0; }

Growing up a peasant and then eventually going to foster kid, Neal had pretty much had respect hammered into him. He had never really cared much about it through his childhood and early teenage years, but, after being abandoned and into those workhouses, his posture and everything else was forced to change. After escaping from there, it had been something he had just sort of continued doing, just not as harshly anymore.

As he kept looking at this woman, Neal could tell that she didn't mean her apology at all. He had heard enough of them, to know when they were sincere and when they weren't. Neal wanted nothing more then to just take Emma and Henry, and, go somewhere. Somewhere where they didn't have to worry about their families that hadn't kept them. But, at the same time, his intention in the first place was to let Emma get back to hers, no matter how much Neal hated his own father.

“Yeah you are.” Neal said, with a soft sigh. “I guess so. But, I'm sure I will find out what that is in time.” Neal returned the woman's attempt at a smile. “I've been bracing myself for years now. It's not really new for me.” Neal could tell that there was a threat behind those words, but, he wasn't going to let it bother him. Or react to it, since that was probably what she was wanting. Neal had no problem with telling Regina what Henry had told him about her. Since he had nothing against her, he'd just gotten here.

“Actually I do. You're Henry's mother.”

The real question is, what is your son doing with mine? When Neal reconfirmed his earlier statement (about her being the first one in town to understand his choice to change his birth name), Regina regarded him with mild surprise. She could hardly believe her own luck. His comment implied that none of the heroes had shown him any sympathy; and by time that could turn out to be very useful for her plans. Thus, she decided to try and be kinder towards Neal. Although she had spent the last weeks trying to be a better human being, her compassion for others was far from restored. During her time as Queen (both before and after King Leopold’s death) life at Court had drained her of all her innocence and sensitivity, and she knew neither trait could be regained overnight. If ever. Thinking about his next words, Regina stepped closer to her car and opened the passenger’s door. “Would you care to find out now?” she tantalised, “Let’s have dinner. My treat.”No sooner had she made the offer, Regina came to regret it. His reply to the question on her identity was coy, and the Mayor did not like it one bit. He was of course right… she WAS Henry’s mother and she couldn’t be any prouder of calling the boy her son, but Regina was more than just a mother. She was Royalty, and no realm could change her status. Irritated by his upfrontedness, she wished Graham alive. The former Sheriff had been putty in her hands, and he would have locked up Neal in a cell if she had asked him to. Unfortunately for her Storybrooke now had a new Sheriff. Emma Swan herself. Laughing off his response, she looked him in the eyes and with a smile still stretching her lips she answered his comment. “Yes. Yes, I am. You have no idea how glad I am to hear you say that, because I am not going to let anyone take away MY son from me.” Then running a hand through her cropped hair she added casually, “How about dinner now?” ♛ Notes: Dress, Coat & Scarf tag Neal Cassidy credits .redhandtemp { position: relative;font-family:'Roboto Condensed',sans-serif; width:375px; margin: 0 auto 30px; padding:20px; text-align:center; background-image:url(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7160153/pic/furley_bg.png); border:5px solid #FFF; box-shadow:0 0 0 1px #E7E7E7; } .redhandtemp img { max-width:375px; display:block; margin:0 auto 30px; border:5px solid #FFF; box-shadow:0 0 0 1px #E7E7E7; } .redhandtemp h1, .redhandtemp h2, .redhandtemp h3 { font-weight:normal; margin:0; padding:0; line-height:1em; text-shadow:1px 1px #FFF; } .redhandtemp h1, .redhandtemp h3 { font-size:13px; font-family:'Monda', sans-serif; text-transform:uppercase; letter-spacing:0.2em; margin:0 0 -5px; color:#474747; } .redhandtemp h2 { color:#842521; border-bottom:1px solid; margin:0 0; height: 21px; line-height: 25px; } .redhandtemp h2 span { background-image: url(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7160153/pic/furley_bg.png); padding:0 15px; text-transform:lowercase; position:relative; top:8px; font-size:22px; font-family:'Great Vibes',cursive; } .redhandtemp h3 { letter-spacing:0.05em; margin-top:16px; }.redhandtemp p { color: #333; text-align:justify; font-size:12px; padding:0 10px; }.redhandtemp p:last-of-type { margin-bottom:30px; } .redhandtemp p:first-of-type { margin-top:42px; } .redhandtemp b,.redhandtemp q { color:#9F2F2B; font-weight:normal; text-shadow: 1px 1px #FFF} .zeddit { position: absolute; bottom: -30px; left: 0; right: 0; }

Neal knew that it may have been a bit of an exaggeration about her being the first one that had understood everything about his new name and everything. But, then again he'd only just had his past catch up with him, so before that no-one even knew there was more behind it. Regina didn't need to know that though. He was only here for one real reason, and, that was to get to know his son, and, not because of anything else. His father may have tried to convince him that he'd changed, but, he wasn't going to believe that until he saw it for himself. All his time in the foster homes and on his streets, had pretty much wiped most of that stuff out of him. Especially his innocence and trusting nature. Raising his eyebrows, Neal just watched as she moved towards her car. He kept his hands in his pockets, but, raised his eyebrows at her offer. “Really? You just met me.”

He looked at her as he responded to her question. The truth was he wasn't going to deny that this woman was his son's mother. From what Henry had said, she had been there for him his whole life, when he couldn't be. And, there was no denying that this made her a mother. Since having someone wanting to be there for you before anything else, was something he didn't get from a parent. Neal wasn't an idiot and he did know that she was the Evil Queen, but, that didn't matter to him. Mainly because she hadn't done anything to him to cause anger or anything else. Neal was still getting used to the idea of staying put, but, he wasn't going to leave his son, or cause him to flee from the only place he'd ever known. Hearing her response, Neal sighed softly “Woah, ok let's be clear, I have no intentions of taking him from anyone. I grew up without even one mother in my life, I'm not going to take my son away from two. Especially not the one that raised him his whole life.” Neal kept his hands in his pockets, as he looked at her, before shrugging softly. “Sure why not?”

The real question is,

what is your son doing with mine?

Although her suggestion was met by a raised eyebrow, Regina's smile did not falter. Her grip remained on the car door, holding it open for Neal. She laughed good-heartedly at his incredulous response and said, “Yes Mr Cassidy. Really.” With her free hand she brushed a loose lock of hair behind her ear and continued, “Aren't friends made over dinner?” Being the devious -not quite yet reformed- woman that she was, Regina had her plans. None of which included becoming Neal's buddy. He, like Emma and her dreadful parents, were like thorns digging deep in her flesh. For Henry's sake, the Charmings had promised to push their prejudice to the side as long as Regina kept her word to become a better person.

However, try as she might they still chose to keep her out of their tight little circle… something she did not truly care to be a part of, unless it concerned her son. Her reply had a defensive edge to it; and if she had to be honest, Regina was expecting anything but understanding from Neal. That's why she was taken aback by his words, and why it took her a few good minutes to respond in turn. “I would give my life for Henry,” she finally said and the sentiment behind her utterance was clearly reflected in her eyes. Then, after their exchange and the second mention of dinner Regina diverted her gaze to the sidewalk. This time around, Neal took her up on the offer. Smiling, she invited him to step inside the car.

Neal had spent a majority of his life getting in and out of strange cars, usually just taking him to and from homes. He kept his hands in his pockets as he just looked at that woman Regina. “Well then.” Neal brought his hands out of his pockets to adjust his scarf around his neck, before shrugging at her next comment. “I guess so.” Neal was good at reading people, and, he was almost positive that she didn't intend on being his friend. He may have been away from this town and life from the start, so, he didn't really have anything against Regina. Yes she did terrible things, but, none of them had been to him. And, if it was for Henry, then he would be ok with looking past it.

Despite being a part of their family through Henry, he still felt left out of all that stuff. Neal had no interest in being around his father, and, Emma's parents still didn't really know whether to trust him yet. That didn't matter to him though, he was here for Henry. Only for Henry. Neal was an understanding man, and, unless it was something that someone had done to him personally then he didn't really hold anything against anyone. “I guess we do have one thing in common then.” Neal gave a soft smile in Regina's direction. Neal didn't see the harm in one dinner with this woman, especially if it gave him the chance to see Henry. He nodded in Regina's direction as he stepped into her car.

The real question is,

what is your son doing with mine?

Relaxing her shoulders, the Mayor returned his soft smile. “That we do,” she replied with a courteous nod. Regina was glad to hear that Neal had their son’s best interest at heart, but deep down she did not believe that any of his birth family could ever love Henry as much as she did. Holding the door open for Neal, she waited until he was comfortably inside. Then, nudging it shut, she walked around the car and slipped behind the driver’s seat.

It did not take them long to arrive at their destination. Regina pulled into the restaurant’s parking lot, and turned off the engine of the car. “I rarely go for Italian,” she shared, “... but this is the place to go for a half decent meal.” Stepping out of the vehicle, and making sure to securely lock it, the Mayor led the way to Tony’s Town Square Restaurant. As the unlikely pair stepped inside the building, the conversation died down.

“I seem to have that effect on people,” she laughed dryly. One of the waitresses, volunteered by Tony himself, reluctantly walked up to the Mayor. “Table for two,” Regina said as she scanned the room, “... by a window.” The teenage girl nodded her head in understanding and scurried off to prepare their table. Regina turned to Neal with an apologetic look. She was harmless (well, sort of). They chose to fear her.

Neal didn't really give a response to the next part, just a quick glance. He loved his son from the moment he saw him, he had grown up with no father, no mother, and, no-one else even remotely close to a family. Now he had that chance with his son, and, he wasn't going to let that go anytime soon. He just smiled softly as he entered the car, and, leant back in the seat as he waited for Regina to enter the car.

He wasn't really paying much attention to anything outside of the car, because his mind was momentarily flashing back to when he was being transported to and from the foster homes. But, the thoughts disappeared as he felt the car stop, and, heard Regina speak. Neal nodded before looking out of the window. “I'll take your word on that then I guess.” Neal then stepped out of the car and waited for Regina to begin to lead the way. Keeping his hands in the pockets of his jacket, Neal followed Regina into the restaurant. Seeing them all silence the moment she entered reminded him of his childhood after his father became the Dark One.

“I guess that's something else we have in common” Neal just looked around the restaurant, and, raised his eyebrows. The people must really not like this queen, either that or they did the same thing with her that they did with his father. They feared her. Neal gave a smile to the waitress, before turning back to Regina, and gave a soft shrug, before placing a brief, but, comforting touch on her hand in what was hopefully reassurance.
