good friends are like snow flakes, all different and all beautiful

Things couldn't get any better. Her life at Storybrooke was perfect in her eyes, and although she sometimes missed the Enchanted Forest, the hill where the fairies used to meet regularly to talk friendly or play or do whatever they wanted... to be there was not bad either, for all the fairies were there, all those whom she considered sisters worked in the convent and she saw them day after day. And that was a gift, because she knew there were people who would pay to see their family again, but instead she had been lucky enough to have them all there.

And of course, she had to take advantage of the moments she managed to be with them, such as that very moment when she was walking comfortably with Indiana, her best friend in the whole wide world. They had gone through so many things together, they had discovered their gifts together, they had improved and learned from them together... she could not imagine her life without Indy in it, she had to be sincere. And of course, being in Storybrooke had not affected the relationship they both shared at all. Lola spent time with her friend, and her new friend, Jefferson, with whom Indy had arrived at a new base, someone might say.

Come on, they had attended the masquerade together, and after the meeting that the three had had with the zombies, they had kissed, so it was evident that there was chemistry between them both. The fairies knew things like that, they could pick up true love from a considerable distance, so she knew she wasn't wrong when she said that Indiana and Jefferson were made for each other. And she was proud to say that she had been a bit involved in the whole bringing them together thing, so hey...

Lola could not complain about her personal love life either, because she had found Puss, a boy who made her laugh and smile more than she could have imagined. She felt happy, she felt like nothing could go wrong... until something went wrong. As mentioned before, she was walking with Indy, a simple stroll before they had to go back to the convent, before a portal suddenly opened under their feet. She just had time to scream, not even move. Everything was dark and cold for a short moment, but almost instantly both fairies were thrown into what seemed to be... a street. A street belonging to... a city? Lola got up and took a quick look at Indy, "Are you all right?" she asked, before looking around. Indeed, they were in a huge city that was definitely not Storybrooke. "Where are we? This city seems gigantic... and I am not complaining, but I would like to know if we are in one of those kingdoms plagued by all the evils you can name".

It was a simply splendid, bright and beautiful day and Lola could not hide the big smile on her face, nor would she want to. Those last few days had been brilliant, at least in her most sincere opinion. After all that had happened at Christmas, the ball, and so on, I don't know, that new year seemed promising, not to mention that with the new year always came new friends and new opportunities and basically anything pretty that could bring a 'new' with it. In addition, the people around her, even those she didn't know personally, seemed to be happy and pleased in their new lives, and that was enough to make her happy.

As she strolled through the forest, her thoughts stopped at the people in general. How would they feel to be away from home now? maybe what they showed were false smiles and didn't really mean anything? But Lola always seemed to know when someone was not showing a genuine and true smile, and those she had seen seemed to be really happy... maybe they were happy away from home, or perhaps they had found happiness in Storybrooke, but that obviously didn't mean that they all found the same fate. Many of them would surely feel trapped inside Storybrooke, just like her sometimes, like birds imprisoned in a cage, though a slightly large cage, but still a cage.

Lola wondered if those people would be happy if someone from their worlds appeared there, though perhaps they didn't have anyone... she frowned, how did she end up thinking of something so depressing when she had been over the top just a few seconds ago? Definitely, mind tricks were rare and uncertain. The young fairy shrugged, deciding to turn those thoughts away from her head, and with swift movements, wrapped her hands around the branch of an old, tall tree, creating long vines that enveloped its brown being. "Like a bracelet," she muttered, smiling. So she continued through the forest, growing small flowers, because in her opinion there was nothing more beautiful than to see a living being bloom.

The fairy sighed heavily as she looked at the various bandages on her lap. She was sitting on a bench in the lovely park, staring at the bandages as if they kept the most dangerous secret in the universe. Look, ever since that little accident happened in the forest, the need to know how to help others took over her body. A few weeks ago she had met a doctor ironically with her ankle sprained in the woods, and she had not known what to do. She had been fortunate that the wounded person was a doctor, for she had instructed her.

But what if she hadn't been a doctor? What if it'd been a normal person without any medical knowledge? Yes, the obvious and evident answer would be to take the injured person to the hospital and have them fix the problem there, but what if next time it wasn't just a sprain? What if it was something more serious? Since that day, she had decided to at least learn the basics of medicine, and she had taken a few borrowed, not stolen, bandages from the hospital, and she was trying to... well, learn how to bandage someone, but let's be honest, it was impossible. Okay, it wasn't impossible, but it was surprisingly difficult.

"And I thought it would be easier than wrapping gifts... because wrapping gifts is not an easy task, most people look for help when it comes to wrapping them, but I know how to wrap them perfectly. Then answer me this, why can't I wrap my own arm in a bandage?" she asked, to the air, earning a few odd glances, though she didn't really care. Lola was frustrated, and confused. It couldn't have been that hard. It was either she was too clumsy or the doctors made it look too easy. She was glad she hadn't volunteered at the hospital as she wanted, that would have ended... horribly wrong.

Lola just needed patience... with patience she would learn to wrap arms. So with a sigh, she lengthened the bandage she was holding on her right hand, and tried to once again bandage slowly but surely her left arm, but... don't ask how, the bandage ended up frankly tangled around her arm, and... well, it's not like she could get rid of it either. Fantastic. "This is my life now, now I will have to live with this insufferable bandage tied to my arm... humiliating."

If someone asked her why she was there, surely the fairy would not know how to respond. It was the shop belonging to the Dark One. it was the shop of a man who frankly she had tried to avoid at all costs, but instead, there she was, looking around, her eyes resting on every curious thing they managed to locate, although being fair everything in that shop was rather curious. She assumed that those things would not have been obtained for free, perhaps they were the prices of his deals? maybe they were stolen? Neither was the fairy interested in knowing where they came from, but it would be interesting to know the story behind them. If it was a good one.

Lola felt incredibly uncomfortable standing there, not even having dared to raise her voice. Back in the forest she had heard terrible stories about the Dark One, but even at that time she hadn't thought he could be so bad, so ruthless. After all, everyone, even those with the darkest and most guarded heart had some kind of weak spot, and that man was no exception. He had Belle, that woman who had been able to tame the beast, a completely beautiful story, in her opinion, very poetic.

The young fairy continued to look around, wondering if the noise of the door opening had been enough to alert the owner. Maybe he was asleep, maybe he was busy, maybe he had earplugs in his ears... she couldn't say it with certainty. Lola sighed, tinkering with one of her golden locks... she was only there to see how he was, and perhaps to scold him for what he had done to them, to the fairies. Lock them up? He had been lucky none of the fairies were claustrophobic, otherwise it would have ended terribly badly. Without a doubt.

"Hello? Anyone home?" she finally decided to ask, impatient. Maybe he wasn't there, maybe that was a sign of fate to warn her to leave immediately from there.....

Christmas. She loved Christmas. Of course, she hadn't had hundreds of opportunities to celebrate it either. Back in the Forest fairies didn't exactly celebrate Christmas (nor anyone else, as far as she knew) so in the only place where she had celebrated it and learned to love it madly had been in Storybrooke, in her time under the curse, and even now that everyone was free from such a horrible spell, she still loved it. Though if we are completely honest with ourselves, who couldn't love Christmas? It was all happiness, and joy, and carols and people doing good deeds and smiles everywhere. It was so cheerful and wonderful.

Lola had learned to love it in record time, and she was thrilled about the fact they ended their shift at the store earlier today. She had bought gifts for all those she loved tremendously, and of course her co-worker, Lina, was on the list of those people. The redhead had been like a little sister to the fairy during the curse, and even after it was over, and frankly she could not imagine coming to work without her being around. Thumbelina made the place happier and brighter and Lola loved that about her.

Now she was saying goodbye to the last customer, and when he finally decided to leave the store, a big smile invaded the blonde's face. It was time to give her gift to the redhead, well, it was time to give her gifts. Yeah, there was more than one of them, she couldn't resist the temptation! She didn't know if they would be of Lina's taste, so she'd better buy more than one, as that would give her a better chance of getting at least one right. She took advantage of the fact that the young lady was in the back of the store, and went to look for the box where she had kept the presents. It was a box wrapped in paper with a floral pattern, something she thought fit perfectly. Then she returned to the center of the store, and giggled to herself. "Lina! I got something special for you! And it's not a hug! Well, I'm going to give you a hug, but that's not what I mean!".
