Heritage Park had been turning into one of the easiest stops that Tina could make often. It was close to the library, and it was a wide open space that was friendly and where she could sit and read a good book without any type of worries. Today had been one such day, with the sun shining, and a typical warm summer day, Tina had left the library with an old spell book in hand. While the spells were all mostly fake, at least to a real witch. A part of her was somewhat intrigued on what the No-Maj's really thought was 'magic' or according to them, witch craft.
<p>
Most of which was laugh worthy, while other things, would have had her banned from Ilvermorny had she ever tried it. None the less, her trip to the park had brought her to a bench nearby the pond where some ducks had been happily quaking away. Normally, Tina liked to feed them. Although, that day she had been fresh out of crackers so the ducks would have to simply deal without any extra treats. All of which they realized quickly, as they had come to know the American witch. They watched her for a bit, and after a few moments of her not making eye contact, they swam back across the pond where they could likely harass another person for their afternoon snack.
<p>
Tina had gone at the least a few chapters into the book when she had given up. The spells were absolutely ridiculous and how anyone could even believe them would have had to be crazy. The book was closed, a sigh escaping her lips and she leaned her back into the bench seat just a bit. While normally she dressed with a skirt or something possibly familiar to what librarians wore, today Tina had gone a bit back to her literal roots. A cloche hat on her head to fight off the sunlight where short brown haired locks stuck out from the sides of her hat. A pair of black boots, and a dark gray pair of pants and steel blue half sleeve bow blouse.
<p>
It was only once she put the book down that she had noticed another woman nearby. Feeling like she may have been purposely blocking the bench, Tina moved the book onto her lap and looked to the white haired woman. " Did you want to sit? I didn't realize you were there, I'm sorry. " It really had been an accident, Tina even going as far as giving a half smile when she looked to her before she had looked back out towards the water.

While Porpentina couldn't quite say she was a person who was one with nature, an occasional walk in the forest was something she found herself enjoying from time to time. The forest in Storybrooke did lack all of the wonders that one in the wizarding world had sadly. After all, there were no strange and magical creatures and there was also a great lack of plant life that came in the variety that could bite, poison, or otherwise strangle you if not cared for properly.
<p>
In a way it was all mundane, though also a little something that she had become quite used to living in a world where the no-maj mostly had their way with things. She understood the rules, how it was best to live in the shadows and not actively socialize with the no-maj as far as a personal relationship went. Jacob had been an exception, for some obvious reasons like being caught in her and Newt's situation for one thing! But her disregard in no-maj's and her way that at one time she treated them more like objects had been fading lesser and lesser.
<p>
Which had been why she was taking that stroll through the woods. Every so often some wild flowers caught her eye, or a cardinal or a finch would fly by and she could watch them. Soon though, Tina hadn't realized just how far she had actually gone out and it wasn't long before the sun had began to slowly sink in the distance. Now it was getting dark, and more so that she really hadn't been too sure of which actual direction she had been going in when her sightseeing had her zig zagging through the brush and forest itself.
<p>
" Great. " An annoyed sigh slipped past her lips when she had given a glance to the sky. It wasn't like there was need to panic, one spell and she could apparate right out of there like it were nothing. But, there came that sometimes stubborness in just wanting to do it herself. So, that was that. She'd at least attempt on her own, worse case? She just apparate right back to the start of the forest.. no harm done.

<p>

An open No-Maj tavern in the 1920's was practically non existent. There had been some of course, these speakeasies were hidden away within New York due to prohibition, but Porpentina never had interest in them. Even then, among the wizarding community, there had several several hidden. The Blind Pig had been one in particular, a quite crummy place that she had no intention on ever stepping foot in again. It was already a bad place, but after her last visit, it was definitely not one she would have recommended for anyone to visit.
<p>
The choices of alcohol differed, from the no-maj bars offering bootlegged whiskey, and the wizarding world offering things like Gigglewater. But that was a different time, and since arriving in Storybrooke, almost everything was not like how it was back in 1926, a time that she was far more accustomed to to say the least!
<p>
She needed somewhere to go though on this given night, she could only spend so much time reading in the Bed & Breakfast, especially when a good part of her day in the library had often been the same idea over and over again. Newt had been off with his creatures, leaving Tina some free time to go into the town and see things for herself a bit. Why did the Rabbit Hole really attract her? She hadn't the slightest idea, but before she even realized, she had already stepped in.
<p>
It seemed a well enough place, already it at least felt more welcoming than what the Blind Pig had ever been. In fact, it was nice that she hadn't felt a million eyes staring at her so to speak when steps slowly made their way to a bar stool and took a seat.
<p>
Normally she really didn't meddle much with no0maj alcohol, things like whiskey and bourbon, vodka, it all really didn't call attention to her at all. Although, as one woman passed, Tina let out her arm gently to ask her what it was. Maybe she could just give that a try instead. ( even if it may have contained much of what she didn't normally go for! )
<p>
She shifted in her seat a bit, a hand raising to pull some of her dark hair behind her air and arms folding neatly along the bar top while people around her had drank their beers and other things and she had kept mostly to herself. Every so often it really occurred to her just how little of the town she had really seen still, even while she now had a job, and had made some friends. The Rabbit Hole had been a good example, all this time, and only now she had discovered it?
<p>
Her dark brown eyes looked about to see who had been working at the bar, if anyone, and while she was in no hurry, a part of the witch had been a little antsy to try the pink drink that the woman who had passed by had in her hand. She waved to someone, at least a partial wave where her hand had barely left the table.

This was really not a good idea. The whole idea of it though had been eating away at Porpentina the moment she really let her mind dwell on it. The last time the two were together it had been near perfect, so much so that it made a typical uneventful workday go by smoothly as ever and honestly there really wasn't anything that could have wiped the smile off her face. Except this. This was going to do just that and she already knew it.
<p>
There came a time where she was quick to learn what you should and shouldn't have said to the Magizoologist. As luck would have it, Tina had happened on the 'shouldn't' more often than she truly cared to. And yet now, there she was entirely aware that she was going to do it again -- if only to set things straight once and for all. ( She hoped. ) Was it her business? Not entirely, his own life was his to live. But then, call it rude, but when she wanted so much to be apart of it it wasn't so easy to do when someone else still seemed to linger around, even if it were only through a moving portrait.
<p>
On top of that, it was Independence day! All over Storybrooke had been posters promoting that a firework display would be done across the pond at Heritage Park. And while yes, she knew the irony of dragging an Englishmen to see fireworks on the day of America's independence from England, she also really didn't let that stop her either.
<p>
Due to the silence of the case, it was best to assume he was in there ( especially since he at least told her when he was leaving it. ) so she had to carry it along with her when her walk had brought her to the park where some other people had been gathering. As for Tina, she went for a spot more secluded where she really didn't have to feel like she was purposely putting him on the spot in front of others. She wasn't that terrible, even if he may have not even taken that into account at all.
<p>
Every so often the battered leather case brushed against her leg half covered in the fabric of her navy blue sundress. While it may have not been her greatest choice in fashion in old New York, Tina didn't quite mind it in Storybrooke, at least it was cool on an otherwise hot day. Though the sun was to go down soon, and that was when steps had come to a stop on a small hill that had overlooked the pond and the fireworks that would start at some point after sunset.
<p>
No. She really hadn't told him about it, something she failed to tell him when she had seen him earlier that morning before the two had to go on to their hopefully temporary jobs. Instead, she unrolled a powder blue blanket she had tucked under her other arm onto the soft grass and put the case on top of it before she knelt down and gave it a few firm knocks. That would get him out.
<p>
This was difficult, she could feel the butterflies already starting. How she could know that she was purposely throwing away something so good was beyond her. And yet, it had to be done hadn't it? Queenie told her only little of the lady in the picture, and yet Newt seemed so defensive with any more being brought up about her. Lost love? Girlfriend.. ? She doubted it was the latter, he hadn't seemed like the sort of man that would pull that.
<p>
But then again, Tina didn't know what to think any more. Being in love was awful, and yet glorious all at the same time.

Everyday that passed was another day that Porpentina was in Storybrooke and more and more she found herself having to adapt. It meant a job, one which was a pretty big step down from her position as an Auror (again), and even the realization that maybe the Bed & Breakfast wouldn't do. That maybe she had to look to something more open and well... more her style. That among so many other things had been on her mind when at least one part of the day had been easy, and it was stepping into the Stitch Shop ran by no other than her sister Queenie.
<p>
And honestly, Porpentina couldn't be more proud of her. All the while her sister was in Storybrooke and making a name for herself by opening a shop and really showing that she was that strong young woman that her elder sister had known all along. So much so, the older Goldstein sister couldn't really bring herself to bring in her own woes. Instead, she was more than happy to bring in some money and maybe a slight interest to do some shopping.
<p>
Queenie was always up for giving her sister tips in style, something that Tina ( and it was obvious ) ignored. As it were the woman dubbed ' the Career Girl ' by her younger sis had a more plainer than plain style. And well, Queenie may have been happy to see that with the more modern world around her, that the witch was at least willing to budge a little.
<p>
" Hello? Queenie? " The door closed behind her when she stepped in and words had found themselves seemingly going unheard. Her black boots clicked against the floor as slow steps moved and hands brushed along the black colored skirt she wore. Maybe her sister was in the back, or maybe someone else had been there, either way she figured someone would have come out so interest slipped to a blue and gray colored dress that had been nearby her.
