Everyday that passed was another day that Porpentina was in Storybrooke and more and more she found herself having to adapt. It meant a job, one which was a pretty big step down from her position as an Auror (again), and even the realization that maybe the Bed & Breakfast wouldn't do. That maybe she had to look to something more open and well... more her style. That among so many other things had been on her mind when at least one part of the day had been easy, and it was stepping into the Stitch Shop ran by no other than her sister Queenie.
<p>
And honestly, Porpentina couldn't be more proud of her. All the while her sister was in Storybrooke and making a name for herself by opening a shop and really showing that she was that strong young woman that her elder sister had known all along. So much so, the older Goldstein sister couldn't really bring herself to bring in her own woes. Instead, she was more than happy to bring in some money and maybe a slight interest to do some shopping.
<p>
Queenie was always up for giving her sister tips in style, something that Tina ( and it was obvious ) ignored. As it were the woman dubbed ' the Career Girl ' by her younger sis had a more plainer than plain style. And well, Queenie may have been happy to see that with the more modern world around her, that the witch was at least willing to budge a little.
<p>
" Hello? Queenie? " The door closed behind her when she stepped in and words had found themselves seemingly going unheard. Her black boots clicked against the floor as slow steps moved and hands brushed along the black colored skirt she wore. Maybe her sister was in the back, or maybe someone else had been there, either way she figured someone would have come out so interest slipped to a blue and gray colored dress that had been nearby her.

The day had been a busy one. The morning started with a lovely few hours spent working in the library and then the next portion of the day had become one of the oddest shopping experiences of her life. While it was easy enough to shop for herself, she was now somehow somewhere responsible for the shopping requirements for a case full of creatures. How she had somehow been involved in this was beyond her, as she really wasn't even sure that Newt had asked her. He just handed her a list on her way out the door and that was that.
<p>
At least she was trusted enough to follow through, right? Her walking from the library to the market and now to the park had come to an end when she decided to plop the four heavily filled bags at the bench beside her. Each and every one was overstuffed with required meats ( probably the slaughter of a small farm with all she needed. ) a few vegetables, and peppermints. At any glance, the bags would have and should have appeared to be heavy. Although, the feather light charm did wonders as all four instead barely weighed a thing. Magic was still something she was not all too used to using in the open, after all years of being taught that it was against the rules and risked unwanted attention from No-Majs would do that to someone! It was a nice change, it was nice to use it here and there and not have to deal with oblivating any who witnessed it.
<p>
She could just apparate back, which seemed the most likely of outcomes. But for now as she looked around the park from the bench which she sat, it seemed that even in those mid day hours the park was fairly busy. A sigh left her lips as a warm breeze teased the shoulder length dark brown locks of her hair. A quack caught her attention. Her gaze turned to a duck who had been brave enough to confront her and that was when she remembered she had some crackers from her left over lunch. Tina went into her purse, one which lacked an extension charm that she really needed to use on it. Especially if it meant more shopping trips like this! None the less, the cracker sleeve was pulled out and the witch was happy to hold one out for the duck who cautiously at first but soon gave in and took the cracker between its beak.
<p>
" There you go. " It was like feeding pigeons in Central Park. And that was more true when she looked up to see that at least five more little ducks had been swimming towards her from the pond. You feed one, you're feeding them all. Thankfully she already had her lunch, since they really didn't look like the sort to share. " Oh. You brought your friends. " She couldn't help but chuckle as another cracker was dropped at her feet for the nearest and hand stretched forward to give one to the first of the five that approached her, quacking merrily along the way.
<p>
The crackers were going fast, one after another to each of the ducks who had watched her as though they hadn't eaten in days. ( Which she doubted was true. ) it was peaceful though, a little something to appreciate on an otherwise beautiful day in the park. " I'm sorry, but I'm almost out. " She was down to six. Maybe five if she chose to eat one, a choice that she quickly decided against. Instead she improvised a bit with breaking one in her hand so that two could share one as hands brushed together to get rid of crumbs and an amused expression ran along her face.

For a good part of the day Tina had spent her time at the Library where she helped in cleaning as well as organizing some of the book shelves that had fallen into disarray by things being put away by it's patrons in the wrong places. In that course of time, she had to look outside every so often and take notice of the warm day and the bright sun shining.
<p>
When it was finally time to go, Porpentina checked a book out for herself and had decided that before she returned to the Bed & Breakfast that she could do some reading and soak in a little bit of that sun. There weren't many other places that came to mind, at least not many others other than Heritage Park. The park wasn't nearly as large as Central Park, a park she was far more used to. But it had a good sized pond, nice people always there, and she couldn't help but sit by the nice garden. Even if it was a bit disappointing that it did lack such plants from the wizarding world. Maybe it was a good thing though, she doubted even the No-Maj in Storybrooke could really withstand a Mandrake scream, a biting Fanged Geranium, or a Venomous Tentacula.
<p>
Her mind of course had been full of thoughts, all of which ranged from the most simple idea of what she would get at the diner later to the ever more complicated thoughts of how she was going to manage staying in Storybrooke for an unforeseen amount of time. The latter thought really taking priority in her mind as she hadn't even realized as she walked towards the garden that the very book that she had just recently checked out had now fallen from the back pocket of her black pants and onto the grass.
<p>
Tina had no idea, and with her arms already holding the jacket that was now too warm to be worn, and a bottled water in hand, she simply kept going unaware. It wasn't all too far, but she soon reached the garden where she had come to a stop as mocha colored eyes stared at the many colorful flowers blooming. No, No-Maj plants weren't magical in any way, although they were pretty. Having grown up with her grandparents, the family mixed both the perks of being a wizard, with the things that No-Maj's could appreciate as they had to blend in due to having to still live in the shadows with the Rappaport’s Law to keep Wizards safe and the No-Maj's unaware of their existence.

<div class="body">

The job at the library that Tina had received was easy enough. It mostly consisted of putting books away and as long as one was intelligent enough to learn the sections where each went -- it was a pretty simple job. Every so often she had to direct someone to a place where their intended book may be, and at times have to find herself taking part in some basic small talk which came as whispers due to the library setting.
<p>
On the down time? She got to read. And while all of the books were No-Maj books, it was still far better than doing nothing at all. The job greatly lacked the excitement that came with being an Auror, but it did in a good way lack how tedious being a Wand Permit Officer was too. It was a little something, and Tina was more than happy that she had been able to work there every few days.
<p>
One thing she did love about the library was that walking into it had felt like she was taking a step back into 1926 again. There were a couple computers, although the witch preferred to avoid those. Instead, she was quite content with the little wheeled cart that was almost always filling up with returned books or books that patrons may have changed their mind on. It was directly something similar to the one used at the New York Library, and Tina was more than happy to settle for something less as opposed to more like the automobiles outside, the cellphones, and the colored televisions that were all over the place. Oh and Wifi, whatever that was.
<p>
For a witch who could cast plenty of spells, it only occurred to her recently that in Storybrooke she was literally old fashion. Her outlook on things, the things she liked, all of it had been dated as compared to the more futuristic town that she was trapped in. Sadly, no spell that she knew of from her wand could change that, and while she'd love to have a time-turner, she even wondered if the enchanted tool would have worked or if it would have complicated things further. Let alone, they were next to impossible to get in the States.
<p>
The morning sun had been leaking in through the library windows when Tina took notice and gently drew her wand as the proper incantation was made and the curtains opened themselves as the rest of the sun found its way to light the room more. For the time being, she was alone. Although that may have changed when she decided that since she already had her wand out, she'd may as well use it more.
<p>
New York had strict laws, the whole United States had them and MACUSA was more than determined to uphold them. But in Storybrooke, none of that seemed to matter that she could see. And while she was a bit guilty in breaking the law herself, it was a bit more relaxing to knowingly use her magic here and there without having her co-workers coming down on her. In true habit, she did still do her best to avoid magic near No-Majs, as she really wasn't sure if she should trust any of them yet.
<p>
Although, one No-Maj may have caught her at that moment. As the curtains had been opened, Tina had looked to the push cart and one book that had been left behind from the history section. wingardium leviosa! She was a good few aisles away and the forest green covered book had began to lift itself from the cart with her incantation and a flick of her wand. She could have used the accio spell, but that was a much faster spell. She wasn't in a rush, not as the book slowly floated towards the witch.

Tina was no stranger to a library. The New York library had been a frequent stop for the witch as well as the wonderful library for wizards and witches that was more hidden away from the no-maj community. This library in Storybrooke had been one that Tina hadn't quite reached as quickly as she would have liked. But at long last, steps in a pair of black leather boots finally stepped foot into the building which looked to be a bit bigger than it appeared to her on the outside.
<p>
Oddly enough, there came a sense of comfort that washed over her. The library was old, at least perhaps not modernized like many things she saw in the town elsewhere. And while it may have not been the exact date, it still felt a bit closer to 1926 like this American Witch preferred.
<p>
A hand tugged gently on her black cloche hat before she pulled it away leaving locks of dark chocolate colored hair to spill out along her gray colored jacket. A part of her was a bit nervous, with fingertips gently grasping her hat as she moved down the first aisle of books and mocha eyes went quickly to gazing for whatever titles really called out to her.
<p>
There was no lying that she really felt out of place there, which seemed ironic given that she had been the same person lecturing Newt to try and fit in too. But as it were, she could try and force herself to wear more 'modern' clothing all she wished, but in the end she really wanted nothing more than to be back in New York.
<p>
One comfort seemed to be that magic was a bit more acceptable, something that she still had a difficult time following through with when her whole up bringing had been to live in the shadows of the No-Maj and to operate with extreme caution or risk obliviating those witnesses. Which wasn't fatal, but still not something you would want to do on a daily basis.
<p>
At long last Porpentina settled on one book as fingertips gently removed it and she held it within her grasp. It was a basic gardening book, but funny enough, while she had never been opposed to No-Maj things, she also really never had that garden she wanted next to her Brownstone apartment. Maybe it was time to read up on some ideas for when or if she ever went home?
<p>
Another book just down two shelves had also sparked her attention due to it's bright green colored case. At this point, she gave a slight smirk as hand slipped into her jacket and wand was pulled from her coat. Maybe it was nice to do such simple spells without fear of causing a situation. Whatever the case. " Accio! " And the book had flown at her just like that to be caught in her hand opposite her wand hand.
