Evanna's life had changed in unexpected ways since coming back from the dead. All the years she had spent searching for Malcolm and her son, and then died never finding. She had spent hours in the Underworld wondering what their lives had been like after that. Had Malcolm continued to be a complete asshole, has he at least been good to their son, or had he continued using the boy for his own gain. Was her son happy, what kind of man had he grown into, did he go on to have children of his own, would she meet them all some day in the Underworld. In some ways she hoped not, she hoped that her horrible husband would go on to the worse place immediately and that her son would end up straight to the good place without a layover in the place she was in, dealing with unfinished business.

In some ways she had actually met one of them in the Underworld, her estranged husband, of course she didn't know that at the time, since he was in the body of a teenage boy. When she learned the truth about that in Storybrooke she nightmares for weeks and ended up in therapy with Archie just to figure out how to cope. After all, it wasn't every day a person came back from the dead over three hundred years later to find their ex-husband posing as a teenage boy and their son also still alive and the dark one. Her son being the dark one wasn't nearly as infuriating as having been tricked once again by her ex-husband. Peter had acted sweet towards her in the Underworld, and all the time he was just playing her. He had known of course, since her appearance hadn't changed much.

As word slowly spread about her being Rumple's mother, she began to realise just how big her family actually was. It was good and bad, especially finding out she had much to make up for because of all the lies Malcolm had fed Rumple, but things were now going well. She was a grandmother to a full grown man who was getting married, she was also grandmother to twin babies that her son and his wife Belle had. She was learning to be a nurse at the hospital, which her light healing magic was a help with, but she was also working hard to learn the modern ways and medicines of this realm. She was also learning some more offensive magic from her son, since after finding herself dropped in a realm with dinosaurs with mostly healing magic at her disposal had not been fun.

Today she decided to go to the library for a bit, she wasn't sure if her daughter-in-law would be there or not, but she wanted to do some more reading on the realm, as well as to see if there were any books on all the other realms people were dropping from. She walked into the library and took off a pair of sunglasses she'd been wearing, sticking them into her bag and glancing around.

After awhile Evanna lost count of how many years she had been in this part of the Underworld, she hadn't even considered what her unfinished business could be for a rather long time. Logic dictated that it probably had something to do with the fact that she died before she ever found her son. She could still feel the sting and horror she had felt that morning she woke up feeling drugged and Malcolm, her husband, and little baby Rumple were nowhere in sight, their things gone. Malcolm had left her a short note in the place that Evanna had been stashing money secretly, money she had planned to use to run back home to her parents with her child. Apparently Malcolm hadn't taken too kindly to finding out that his wife planned to leave him with his son, and had left her instead. She didn't understand why he took Rumple, it wasn't as if he seemed to care much for his son, beyond how the child could be used in cons.

After that Evanna had spent over eight years or so searching, always one step behind, and then while checking out a tip she had gotten, she was cut short, robbed for trinkets and ended up dying in a barn fire, never realising just how close she had been to actually finding Rumple. Waking up in the Underworld had been quite a shock, it was a dreary place, where day and night felt the same and seasons didn't exist. She was there for so long that she saw how it would shift and change depending on Hades' mood. Often areas of it just looked like darker areas of the Enchanted Forest where she had been from.

Eventually she found purpose in the Underworld, even if she had unfinished business, she realised that lots of children that died also died with unfinished business. It only made sense considering how their lives had been cut so short, though she had yet to really find any children under the age of six or so, it seemed babies and toddlers were exempt from such things, since they were so young and hardly developed. Evanna found a large farmhouse with plenty of rooms to care for some of the younger ones, while some of the older teens often found places to sleep on their own, but would come to Evanna's to help her look after the others.

Year after year, day after day, she kept an eye on children, helped keep them safe, helped make sure they were fed and clothed, she even taught some of them that were young enough to really still need an education. Recently a new threat had come into the Underworld, a blind witch with a taste for eating people, preferably children, that had caused Evanna great distress, now if she couldn't find one of her wards she worried even more.

Today she was looking for young Greer in the deeper parts of what appeared to be a forest, the girl was probably only eight when she had died, and she was having such a hard time adjusting. Evanna knew that the girl loved the forest because it reminded her of home, even if it was drearier in the Underworld forest. Evanna had a small basket of food, along with a hidden dagger just in case there was trouble. Not that it would do much good, they were all dead and couldn't die again, but it comforted her somehow. Plus there were ponds and creeks that were all over the forest and if anyone touched the water, their soul would be lost forever. There were some that found it fun to push people in, evil people with unfinished business that Evanna hoped would one day find themselves in the worse place.

Every so often she called for Greer.

"Greer, are you out there, it's Evanna, it's safe, you can come out now........."

<p>Evanna had quite a lot on her plate lately, besides her new job as a nurse at the hospital, and then in November finally having the big reveal conversation with her son while he was demon possessed. Now to make things more complicated she found out it seemed Rumple had forgotten the entire conversation once the demon was gone, if he'd even heard to begin with as she wasn't sure how the possession had worked. Apparently it had gotten to the point the demon was the one driving things and Rumple had been pushed back to some dark corner of his own mind, perhaps, she really wasn't sure how it worked but that's what it sounded like. Now there were more people who knew besides her and her horrible ex husband who went by the name Peter Pan these days, though only a few people for now. It hadn't been an easy conversation to have to begin with, but at the time she hadn't known exactly what had been making him act like he was, otherwise maybe she would have held off until after they'd gotten the demon out of him. She wasn't sure how she would bring it up again, Rumple had been avoiding people he'd hurt, since he had so many apologies to make because the demon driving his body had done some pretty awful things around Storybrooke for the month it was in control.

<p>Now she felt even more weighed down with this secret than she had before speaking to the demon possessed Rumple, when she had only been heavily suspecting the truth and wasn't entirely certain. Sure the facts all lined up, Rumple's age, where he grew up in the Enchanted Forest, and Rumplestiltskin wasn't exactly a common name. How did you tell someone twice, especially now that she knew how many awful things Malcolm had told his son. She hadn't abandoned Rumple, but he was raised believing she had, since he was only a small toddler when Malcolm took their son and left her in the middle of the night while she had been given a sleeping drought in her tea to make sure she wouldn't wake up until they were long gone.

<p>Eventually she'd have to figure out how to approach the subject with Rumple yet again, and in the mean time she decided to wait a bit. Maybe it would be easier if she told someone else first, she knew Neal from the Underworld, though not for very long, but long enough to know he was a decent sort and someone she was proud to think of as a grandson, even if he didn't know she was his grandmother yet. She decided to go for a walk in the park to clear her head. It was chilly, but it hadn't snowed for a few weeks. She was bundled up warm and had a large hot tea from Granny's with her. She was in too deep thought to even care about the cold any how, and too preoccupied to notice anyone or anything around her. She paused by the frozen duck pond and just looked out over it, lost in thought.

<p>On the bright side, the reveal had made it easier in other ways, she was no longer alone wondering if her suspicions were true about Rumple being <i>her</i> Rumple, her son she'd spent years searching for. Now a few others knew even if Rumple didn't remember currently. Neal knew, Emma of course knew by extension, and a couple of others. Of course Pan knew simply because he had always known, stupid bastard had even known who Evanna really was back when they met in the Underworld and hadn't bothered to reveal that he was really her ex husband Malcolm.

<p>Eventually she'd have to figure out how to approach the subject with Rumple yet again, and in the mean time she decided to go visit Emma at the Sheriff Station, along with coffee and doughnuts, she didn't want to turn up empty handed after all. Though she wasn't entirely sure that Emma would be there, if she hadn't been so preoccupied in her own thoughts about everything going on than perhaps she would have remembered that it wasn't Emma's day to be on duty. She walked in and peered around.

<p><b>"Hello? Emma, you around? Anyone?"</b> She poked her head and looked around, the last time she'd been in a sheriff station, it had looked quite like this one, but it had been in Underbrooke and James and Cruella had been her captors, upset that she'd been making the children comfortable and happy in the Underworld when Hades wanted everyone miserable and without any hope.

Evanna was so happy to be in Storybrooke, to be alive, to have found her family, but there were days that it seemed odd and almost surreal. She tried to busy herself with the new life, the new duties at the hospital, but there were some days that no matter how much she worked towards focusing on her new routine, she found herself missing her old routine in the Underbrooke. She had after all spent over three hundred years with that same routine, helping all the lost children who died young and found themselves with unfinished business. That routine had been her life line, her sanity, her everything for so long. This feeling often led her to falling back into her old routine when she had a day off from her duties at the hospital and found herself with no family plans. Not that she expected to find any lost children wandering around Storybrooke or in the forest, but just going through the motions of her old routine, gave her a sense of peace.

It was easy to mimic her old routine since for the last several years the Underworld mirrored Storybrooke, there were small differences of course, here and there scattered about. The clock was one of the most obvious since in Underbrooke it was in the middle of the street as if it had been toppled over. Then of course there was the graveyard, which wasn't that different except some of the stones that had fallen over or been cracked in two. She liked this Storybrooke much better, it smelled like life, the living all around. The weather changed, the seasons, it was lovely, and it made her long walks around Storybrooke all the more fulfilling.

Today she decided to go for her usual walk around the forest, she imagined her son wouldn't be that happy about it with the zombie problem going on around Storybrooke, but she imagined she'd be no more safe in town as outside of town. Plus weren't the zombies attracted to people, she imagined they'd attack in the populated areas more than the forest. Still, she did toss a dagger into her bag she was carrying just in case. The season was turning into a nice spring, wet, but at least the days were warmer and much of the snow was melting. She was dressed in just her casual clothes and a very warm sweater. She tried not to stray too deep into the forest, she slowly made her way towards the troll bridge, whistling as she walked along.
