this sadness is unbearable
Oh, it was simply a great day! Well, rather it had been a great day, because now the dark night reigned over their heads. Tooth was gathering the teeth that her small fairies had brought her, and she was carefully placing them in the small boxes in which she used to keep all the teeth. That night some of those boxes were being filled, others were being started... she smiled to her mini-fairies while she accepted the teeth that they gave her, and them as happily returned her smile. Some people did not understand the importance of their teeth, they did not understand that they were incredibly valuable to a person as she was... they treated them as if they were toys, not caring about which color they had. White or yellow, what importance did it hold? A lot! She could accept them to be yellow if that one was the enamel that they always have had, but she could not accept a person leaving their teeth to dye yellow just because they were too lazy to brush them, when they had the opportunity to have whiter teeth. What sense did it have? Yet Tooth loved all the teeth, even if she felt a special love for those who were completely white.
At the end of deposit all the teeth in boxes, Tooh sighed, and she simply took a time to look at everything. All the boxes of the happiest memories of a person. Those memories that they returned to a person if they needed it. All of them were saved, being protected by all of them. Tooth evidently hadn't looked into the memories of anyone, because that would be just rude and she would never make such barbarity, although what she used to do was watch all boxes, all the names... I don't know, but whenever she did that, a feeling of happiness invaded her on the inside. But that feeling of happiness didn't invade her that time. As she watched all the boxes, ordered and perfectly placed, there was one that caught her attention. Tooth bit her lower lip, and curiously, she picked up that box from all the other piles of boxes.
Tooth knew clearly which person belonged to each box, she knew it like the palm of her own hand... and perhaps for that very reason she got so altered when looking at that same box, which was holding in her hands... the memories belonging to Pitch, or at least to the person who he was before becoming the King of Nightmares. How should someone react before something like that? Should she tell this information to the other Guardians? should she keep it secret? should she give them to Pitch? should she... show them to him? After all, the teeth kept his fondest memories, and although it seemed hard to imagine it, Pitch had not always been the man who he was now. She was sure that he had once been a married man with children, a happy man. Perhaps showing him his teeth made him remember, maybe she helped him in any way? She knew that he didn't feel a special love for the guardians, but-- she could help him, she could try to, at least.
Tooth frowned, holding the delicate box in her hands, looking around, as if she were trying to find the answer to her around. What was right, and what was wrong. She knew that she should not hide such vital information from the other guardians, she knew that this was not the typical behaviour of the Tooth Fairy, she had to be honest, loyal to her own... and she would tell them absolutely everything after finding Pitch. He needed help, he needed a little light in his life. And although she knew that he was not one of the most friendliest beings that you could find in the face of the Earth, she should try it, she should try talking to him, soothing him. After all, now he would be in a vulnerable state, he would be going through a hard time.
No one believed in him anymore, because now they had replaced him, in one way or another. And Tooth had not wanted to harm anyone, but it was not her fault that for example the hope Bunny brought to the children prevented children from believing in the Boogeyman. They simply protected the kids from the bad things, and although Tooth thus not wanted it, Pitch, was one of those bad things that they had to keep away from children. For the moment, they had not been having any kind of problem, everything was going phenomenally - and although she knew that perhaps what she was about to do would be a huge, huge mistake, she had to try.
Determined, Tooth ordered her small fairies to follow with the work, although some of them had insisted on accompanying her. She knew that now Pitch practically must be harmless, because if nobody believed in him, his powers simply went down, but even so, she would not risk the safety of her fairies. With the small box in hand, Tooth located where Black was hiding, mostly thanks to his teeth, because they always kept a great connection with their owners, and without thinking twice, she undertook the flight. Through the whole journey, her mind was still torturing her. She still did not know if what she was doing was going to be worth it, she did not know what could happen - but she should take the risk. After all, she never wanted what had happened. She knew Pitch terrified children, and she knew that he was not good, but still, nobody deserved to be forgotten in the shadows.
After what seemed like days of flight, Toothiana finally arrive at her destination, a large and wide cave, so hidden from civilization as it could be. It was dark, and she barely could see something inside. By pressing the case against her chest, Tooth flew inside the cave, looking around, waiting for her eyes to adjust to such darkness. "Knock, knock" she said, to announce her arrival, I mean, how else was she going to make the man know she was there? "That would have had a lot more sense if there had been a door... but this is a cave, and caves have no doors. They have a free entry and a free exit, without doors" okay, she should stop talking immediately.

What was he without fear? Correction: What was he without being feared?
Everything he had achieved, everything he had worked so hard for had been broken. Destroyed by these new so called ‘Guardians’ the Man in the Moon had chosen. Because what good is fear when there is light? And hope and wonder and all these things these new spirits were now bringing to the children. Replacing him even, because what good would a bad dream be…if it is only ever written off as a bad dream?
And so the darkness and shadow was all he had left, not that this wasn’t all he’d had before, but now…the disbelief that was following him was a painful sort. To feel utterly powerless, helpless, was no fun for anybody let alone a spirit. Without belief he could quite possibly cease to exist, finally dissolve into his own shadows never to reappear again. That is, if the Guardians ever succeeded completely. Something in which he had to be certain they wouldn’t, since however much a person could hate and despise fear, it wasn’t something you can ever snuff out entirely. At least, if there was just one spark of fear somewhere in the world he had a chance right? Somebody out there somewhere would always be scared of the Boogeyman.
The cloak of dark that surrounded him was oddly comforting, and the blackest cave furthest away from civilisation was somewhat fitting. Because where else would he be? Or even could be? With his reign of the Dark Ages over, there had admittedly been some restrictions. So this particular cave was what he was to call ‘home’, and for how many years longer he didn’t know. Could be hundreds, thousands of years after now. And yet, he would be as patient as he needed to be, he could count on Manny watching all of this after all. So one day, he vowed he would give the Prince some proper entertainment to watch, because as he had said, there would always be fear.
Although perhaps it was his own fear that was becoming more of the problem.
Pfft! No. He wasn’t scared. He was angry.
A low chuckle escaped him as he rolled in his darkness, swirling black creeping along the cave floor as he thought. Thinking of ways to destroy the Guardians would never be boring to him after all, and being stuck like this for so long was a sure way of helping him to conjure up some ‘fun’ ideas should he ever get the chance to enact on them. Which could quite possibly happen today, since the cheerful voice now echoing in his cave was jagged to him. And would he have being in his true shape, his face would be contorting into all sorts of horrible positions right now. However, being the way he was it was easier to stay one with the shadows, slipping into them was easy. Perhaps even anybody could do it, the problem was always the escape, since it was all so easy to get lost in them.
But he was the shadows. Their King if you will. And so he soon managed to locate the source of where the voice had been coming from, miss feathers no less. He let his shadow circle her twice (not that it would be easy to tell…when inside the cave was quite literally ‘Pitch Black’) before slowly taking form to tower behind this intruder for a moment. “Boo” he whispered, leaning over the tiny fairy’s shoulder another soft chuckle escaping him as he did so. This was the most entertainment he was going to get for a long while after all. She was clearly another Guardian, he could assume as much anyway. And her bright feathers honestly, made him feel sick. But however much he despised her very existence he didn’t actually want her to leave here, not just yet. She was a spirit like he was, and clearly she ‘believed’ in him enough to find him. Not that this made him feel warm or appreciated at all. If anything he assumed she was here to gloat. Or at least perhaps that would be what he’d do. “Are you lost... fairy?” he hissed gently, the fact that the Guardian was holding a little box hadn’t exactly escaped his attention. So she was clearly here for a reason, well, he supposed you had to be to venture into a place like this.

this sadness is unberable
There was a small voice, a voice in the back of her mind, that repeated to her that having gone to visit Pitch had been a terrible, terrible idea, that she had to have given the teeth to the other Guardians, that she would have to have them stored in a safe place until the end of time, that she should at least have warned them about her having the memories of their worst enemy... but Tooth did not see that as something fair to do.♥
After all, although Pitch had devoted to scaring children, he had every right in the world to relive his most happy memories, because maybe by making him remember that in his past life, before becoming who he was now, he was surely someone kind and with a family, he changed, maybe he saw the world in a different way. And Tooth knew that basically scaring children was all he could do to get them to believe, but I don't know, perhaps Manny could help him if he decided to help the kids instead?.
Even though the little voice inside her head had been right, there was no turning back now. She was inside the cave, looking for the enemy who they had defeated, by tightening the small and delicate box against her chest. She should admit she didn't see a thing, just shadows that seemed to move, which seemed to be people without any clear form.
Tooth felt chills run down her back whenever the shadows surround her, which could be all the time, and she had considered to leave and wait outside, because it didn't seem that there was no one home, until a voice behind her shoulder made her think differently. She flinched at the sound of his voice, a whisper that was able to shrink her heart for a moment, but she didn't fear him. What would she be afraid of? now he was vulnerable, and he couldn't do anything to her.
The fairy turned around, flapping her wings slightly faster, to see the man who she supposed had camouflaged among the shadows. Grey and dark, those were the colors that defined him. His small chuckle had caused great discomfort in her, and clearly it hadn't helped her nerves to disappear, but she had to concentrate in what she had come to do. Help him.
"Lost? Oh, no. It would be pretty silly to get lost in a cave, don't you think? I mean, I can leave at any time, I remember where I came from, and if I were lost, I certainly wouldn't have entered into a cave-" talking too much once again, seriously, it was a bad habit that she should solve. "I'm Toothiana, the Tooth Fairy!" she introduced herself, with a small smile on her lips.
Tooth didn't know whether or not Pitch knew her identity, she didn't even know if he was aware of who the Guardians really were, but saying her name wouldn't harm anyone. "I have come... to give you something. Something that belongs to you".
