Should we check the punch... ...or something? Standing stiffly in front of her full length mirror, Regina stared at her reflection. Her forehead was creased from worry-lines, and judging from her pinched expression she looked like was about to face a demon. "I would stand a chance against an evil spirit, " she scoffed, "Tonight it's going to be.... well tonight will be worse than that." Then, placing one hand over her abdomen, she closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. "Ok. Keep your cool," Regina instructed herself. Opening her eyes, she locked her gaze with those of her reflection. "You have seen many things in your lifetime - and a group of teenagers who listen to their libido more than they do their mothers shouldn't be so bad... right?" Her stern expression faltered for the briefest of moment; but as she regained her composure she said confidently, "Right!"Her eyes travelled down to take in her appearance, and she was satisfied with the overall look of her outfit. Her dress was like a ripe apple, and the black of her hose/shoes complimented it nicely. Grabbing the coat off the bed Regina swung it around her shoulders, and with her bag clutched in her hands she hurried downstairs. Once the Manor was safely locked, the Mayor climbed inside her Mercedes Benz and the engine roared to life. The drive to Henry's school wouldn't take long. In fact, if she had wanted to, she could have easily transported herself using magic. At the High School, Regina took her time to step out of the car - and when she finally did she walked briskly towards the entrance, smiling politely at the few townsfolk who greeted her. She was in! and she was ready to chaperone, well or at least she thought she was. ♛ Notes: I hope it's ok >.

Hank still wasn't really used to the idea of his little girl growing up and dating, throw in being back in his old realm that had changed since he was here over fifty years earlier and some days he just wasn't sure up from down. Sure Henry had ultimately reasonably sort of proven himself when the boy had helped find his daughter's horse, but that hadn't entirely put Hank's mind at ease about his only child dating.

Since they hadn't exactly planned the journey to this realm, Hank hadn't really come with much more than the clothes on his back, so once him and Violet had decided to settle in and make a life here, he'd had to do some major shopping. Initially Hank had planned to wear his Knight attire that he had come in to the dance to chaperone, but Violet had put a stop to that and insisted he but a more modern suit that fit in with this realm. Hank wasn't thrilled about the idea, but he could never really say no to Violet.

He felt uncomfortable wearing a tie, and he kept fidgeting with it as he stood outside the door to the school, he'd agreed to let Henry take his daughter, so he'd gone separately, another thing that made him uncomfortable. He was in the process of fidgeting with his tie when he looked up to see Regina walking towards the school. He put on his best attempt at a smile, despite his internal discomfort with his tie and the dance in general and opened the door for the reformed evil queen.

"Lady Regina...." He bowed his head with respect and motioned for her to go through ahead of him, he was a knight after all, and he took manners seriously. "You look lovely this evening, are you here unescorted this evening?" If she was without escort he supposed he'd feel obligated to ask her for a dance, she was the adoptive mother of his daughter's boyfriend after all, it probably would do well for them to be on good terms since their children were.

Should we check the punch... ...or something? While she was walking up the steps which lead to the entrance, the door swung open. At first Regina thought that someone, already bored, was coming out of the school; but then she saw none other than Sir Hank Morgan holding the door wide upon and looking in her direction. Surprised by his chivalrous actions, the brunette glanced over her shoulders to make sure that he was actually bowing his head to her and not to someone else walking up behind her. When she heard her name, the Mayor turned around to face him. She smiled and with a nod of her head walked past him to enter the building. "Sir Morgan," she greeted pleasantly, "I see you have also been looped into chaperoning." If she had to be honest, although she would never admit it out loud, Regina had two reasons for being at the dance. Firstly she wanted to be a regular mother for Henry. One who does regular things. Secondly she wanted to keep an eye on Henry and the girl who had won over his heart. Violet was a sweet girl, but with the life they had led Regina could not help but feel overprotective of her only son. Stopping just shy of the entrance, the Mayor waited for Hank to join her before replying to his question. "Thank you," she smiled, "You are too kind." Then eyeing him up and down Regina added, "This clean-cut look suits you. Let me guess. Violet's doing?" Nodding briefly she continued, "Yes I am unescorted this evening. Yourself?" ♛ Notes: n/a tag Hank Morgan credits .redhandtemp { position: relative;font-family:'Roboto Condensed',sans-serif; width:375px; margin: 0 auto 30px; padding:20px; text-align:center; background-image:url(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7160153/pic/furley_bg.png); border:5px solid #FFF; box-shadow:0 0 0 1px #E7E7E7; } .redhandtemp img { max-width:375px; display:block; margin:0 auto 30px; border:5px solid #FFF; box-shadow:0 0 0 1px #E7E7E7; } .redhandtemp h1, .redhandtemp h2, .redhandtemp h3 { font-weight:normal; margin:0; padding:0; line-height:1em; text-shadow:1px 1px #FFF; } .redhandtemp h1, .redhandtemp h3 { font-size:13px; font-family:'Monda', sans-serif; text-transform:uppercase; letter-spacing:0.2em; margin:0 0 -5px; color:#474747; } .redhandtemp h2 { color:#842521; border-bottom:1px solid; margin:0 0; height: 21px; line-height: 25px; } .redhandtemp h2 span { background-image: url(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7160153/pic/furley_bg.png); padding:0 15px; text-transform:lowercase; position:relative; top:8px; font-size:22px; font-family:'Great Vibes',cursive; } .redhandtemp h3 { letter-spacing:0.05em; margin-top:16px; }.redhandtemp p { color: #333; text-align:justify; font-size:12px; padding:0 10px; }.redhandtemp p:last-of-type { margin-bottom:30px; } .redhandtemp p:first-of-type { margin-top:42px; } .redhandtemp b,.redhandtemp q { color:#9F2F2B; font-weight:normal; text-shadow: 1px 1px #FFF} .zeddit { position: absolute; bottom: -30px; left: 0; right: 0; }

Hank nodded at her question and smiled, it wasn't as if he'd never worn clothes like this, but the last time he was in this realm felt like another lifetime ago, and it very nearly was. Lots had changed in the last forty or fifty years that it had been, so much so that he barely recognised it some days. Still, he felt as if the clothing shouldn't bother him as much as it was, but he supposed he just hadn't realised how accustomed he had gotten to life in Camelot until it was no more. On the bright side there was nothing but his daughter here to remind him of the wife he had lost so long ago, a wound that felt like it would never heal.

"Yes, she seems to be eagerly embracing this realm and its customs, I on the other hand hadn't realised just how used to Camelot I had gotten until faced with all these changes." He paused, he hadn't anticipated the question of having an escort being pointed back at him as well, it wasn't exactly a question he had been prepared to answer. "Just me, I hadn't really uh, even considered asking anyone to be honest." He wouldn't have even begun to know who to ask, even if he'd wanted to attend with someone. It wasn't as if he hadn't made friends in Storybrooke since he arrived, but he'd spent so long with his wife, and then alone grieving her, he had no idea really how to go about dating, especially in this modern world.

"Have you seen Violet and Henry yet? I know Violet was really looking forward to her first dance in this realm." He hadn't really been looking forward to it, another reminder his little girl was growing up and falling for a boy, some days the idea of it all made him feel downright sick to his stomach, it felt like it was happening too fast, even if it wasn't.

Should we check the punch... ...or something? As the door closed behind her, Regina moved to the side and started to wring her hands – more out of habit than anything else. Tilting her head and briefly glancing at the tiled floor she replied, “This world is not an easy place to understand.” When she first woke up in Storybrooke, Regina had been thrilled that her Dark Curse had worked. She was finally the only one with a happy ending, or so she thought. As the days turned into weeks and then months, the former Queen came to realise that she had cursed herself with two identities. Her position as Mayor placed her at the top of the food chain, but she missed the Enchanted Forest. Storybrooke, stuck into a time loop, was boring – that is until the arrival of one Emma Swan. From his hesitation and body language, she could tell that her question had taken him by surprise. “Me neither,” she smiled reassuringly, “Tonight is all about the children and making sure they have fun.” Taking a step forward and offering him her hand she added, “Perhaps we could keep one another company? … and get to know each other? After all my son IS dating your daughter.” Speaking of their respective children, Hank asked if she had seen them. “I have not,” she replied, “… but I am sure they will be here any minute.” Lowering her voice she muttered to herself, “There’s only so much lasagna that Granny can heat before closing shop for the day.” ♛ Notes: n/a tag Hank Morgan credits .redhandtemp { position: relative;font-family:'Roboto Condensed',sans-serif; width:375px; margin: 0 auto 30px; padding:20px; text-align:center; background-image:url(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7160153/pic/furley_bg.png); border:5px solid #FFF; box-shadow:0 0 0 1px #E7E7E7; } .redhandtemp img { max-width:375px; display:block; margin:0 auto 30px; border:5px solid #FFF; box-shadow:0 0 0 1px #E7E7E7; } .redhandtemp h1, .redhandtemp h2, .redhandtemp h3 { font-weight:normal; margin:0; padding:0; line-height:1em; text-shadow:1px 1px #FFF; } .redhandtemp h1, .redhandtemp h3 { font-size:13px; font-family:'Monda', sans-serif; text-transform:uppercase; letter-spacing:0.2em; margin:0 0 -5px; color:#474747; } .redhandtemp h2 { color:#842521; border-bottom:1px solid; margin:0 0; height: 21px; line-height: 25px; } .redhandtemp h2 span { background-image: url(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7160153/pic/furley_bg.png); padding:0 15px; text-transform:lowercase; position:relative; top:8px; font-size:22px; font-family:'Great Vibes',cursive; } .redhandtemp h3 { letter-spacing:0.05em; margin-top:16px; }.redhandtemp p { color: #333; text-align:justify; font-size:12px; padding:0 10px; }.redhandtemp p:last-of-type { margin-bottom:30px; } .redhandtemp p:first-of-type { margin-top:42px; } .redhandtemp b,.redhandtemp q { color:#9F2F2B; font-weight:normal; text-shadow: 1px 1px #FFF} .zeddit { position: absolute; bottom: -30px; left: 0; right: 0; }

In some ways it felt a bit odd, not that Hank had ever met Regina prior to the heroes coming to Camelot a few years ago, sure they had heard of an Evil Queen in another kingdom, but they'd always had their own problems to deal with than worrying about ones in far off kingdoms. In Hank's mind she was the mayor of the town and Henry's, well one of, mother. She certainly didn't seem to be an evil queen any longer, for as long as Hank has known the woman standing near him. In his mind she deserved to be seen as the woman she was now, and not judged on things that happened in another realm. He smiled warmly.

"That would be good, it would certainly help put my mind at ease. I know that she is as safe here as she was in Camelot, mostly, and that Henry is a good lad with a caring heart but sadly it doesn't stop me from worrying about her much of the time. Which as the mother that raised Henry from a baby, I'm sure you can understand." Granted for the first seven years or so of Violet's life, Hank had his wife's help raising his beautiful daughter Violet, but after Amanda died, Hank had to raise Violet all on his own, on top of juggling his duties as a knight of Camelot and it had not been easy. In some ways, being around the people of Storybrooke, he felt a bit better about things. Sure he missed the life of a knight at times, and he did his best to help the heroes whenever there was a threat, but for the most part Hank was just another citizen of the town and had a lot more time for his daughter.

He took the hand she offered, as any gentleman and knight would do, and escorted her into the main dance hall. He motioned towards a table of food and refreshments and glanced over at Regina, "Would you care for something to drink?"

Should we check the punch...

...or something?

Although she had spent little time with Hank, he was always a breath of fresh air. Like many before him, he knew of her reputation and he had heard many things about her past. However, unlike the majority, Hank did not hold her sins against her. He was polite and kind; and he was giving her the chance to show her true colours. Now although her light was tinted with a large amount of darkness, she was determined to be the best version of herself that she could be. If not for herself, then for Henry. Her son was captivated by Hank's daughter, and she did not want her mistakes to get in the way of his happiness.

His response was like an echo to her thoughts, and with a smile she assured him that she understood what he meant. “They grow up so fast, but as parents we always see them as children in need of protection. Especially in a world like ours, with monsters lurking in every corner.” She had once upon a time been one of the monsters, and the mere thought of it made her bow her head in shame. Hank took her hand, and she looked up to smile at him. Once they were standing in the main room by the refreshments, she nodded in reply. “I think I am going to try soda. I never did before,” she laughed.

Hank looked around at all the teenagers as they stopped by the refreshments, it was hard not to wonder what would become of them all once they were adults. For some in the room it was only a few years off. Back before Hank had ended up in Camelot he would have imagined that turning eighteen and graduating high school meant university. However, after spending many years in a realm where many never got schooling beyond what they learned at home or from tutors, he imagined some might want to just go out and explore the world or find work or love. There were so many unknowns and that made Hank even more uneasy and worried about the future for his daughter.

He turned his attention back on Regina and as she mentioned not having tried soda yet, he couldn't help but grin a bit and let out a soft chuckle. Not that it was funny, but from all he had been told of the curse she had cast they had all been in that town for quite some time, even if it hadn't felt like time was moving.

"Really? All this time here in this realm and you hadn't tried soda yet? When I was a kid in this realm, quite awhile ago now they had these places called soda shops, they combined ice cream parlours with drug-store soda fountains, well and I suppose a diner as well. I'd go and get myself an egg cream, put on some Elvis or Buddy Knox on the jukebox. Now don't let the name fool you, they call them egg creams, but they don't have cream or eggs in them, milk though, they had milk. You may also be wondering what an egg cream has to do with soda, but the ingredients are milk, carbonated water and then some sort of chocolate or vanilla syrup. Just thinking about it makes me want one, and I haven't had one in, well in longer than I'd care to sit down and consider." He'd never really felt old in Camelot, but thinking about how long they the realm went not ageing and then how old he'd already been before that, well if he thought too much about it, that did make him feel old.

...or something?

His chuckle amused her, and Regina was quick to mimic the grin adorning his face. “Really and truly,” she confirmed. “Back home, wine was my beverage of choice. When we came here I switched to a coffee IV,” she joked. “Sodas used to remind me of bubbling potions,” Regina continued on a more serious tone, “One more thing I had to give up for a quiet life in Storybrooke.” Glancing at the refreshments - her stare lingering on the fizzy drinks - she smiled, “There’s nothing holding me back now.” She took a step closer to the table and turned around to fully face the selection of soft drinks. “Any recommendations?” the brunette questioned.

Listening to his reply, Regina looked at him with a confused expression. She raised the palm of her hand in front of her and said, “Hold up...” Then, glancing sideways, she repeated his words to herself - and as they sunk in, Regina realised how little she knew about Hank. “This world is your home,” she intoned matter of factly. Meeting his eyes, the Mayor listened to his explanation about the egg cream. “It sounds... sweet. Not exactly up my alley, but if you are offering to make one for us and our young lovebirds I would be willing to try it. Say next Sunday? Dinner at my house?” As she waited for his reply, Regina casually resumed eyeing the sodas.

Notes: Sodas are becoming a running theme It would be hilarious to incorporate them with other characters
