Family. Something that Arista had always loved with all her heart. After all, family is all that she had had at her side during half of her life. Her sisters and her father, those people who she had loved a lot. She still loved them, if she had to be completely sincere, but she didn't want to see them.
Ari had already met with Ariel at Storybrooke, and she knew that Aquata was also in the surrounding area, and she simply did not want to find them after all that had happened. Of course, Ariel and Aquata did not know the discussion that Arista had with her sisters before running away from Atlantic, but the discussion had been because of those two. If her two sisters had not escaped from their home in the first place, all that would not have occurred.
<p>
Triton would have not become even more possessive. All the sisters were aware that Triton could become quite controlling, overprotective... but since Ariel and Aquata had left the burrow, his way of acting with his daughters had changed terribly, and Arista simply hand't been able to stand it anymore. She couldn't live as a slave, and she just couldn't stand living with her sisters and her father. She wanted to start a new life, she wanted to discover the world, she wanted to do the same thing Ariel had done, even if that involved disobeying her father's wishes.
<p>
Arista sighed, looking at the water that was so close to her feet. The mermaid was sitting on the docks, with her stare lost, while her brown hair danced with the soft evening breeze. She used to miss her blonde hair, but she had dyed it with the sole purpose of her sisters not recognising it, although apparently Ariel had recognised her perfectly, no matter the color of her hair. Frustrating, I would say.
<p>
Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard steps approaching. Oh, fantastic. Over everything, now she would have someone disturbing the peace that she had been relaxing with these last few minutes.

Arista wasn't someone who you saw and thought "wow, she must be a kind of person crazed with books". Oh, no. And if you thought that those people didn't exist, you were very wrong. If you see someone with round glasses, a t-shirt of braces with clear words that spell out "I love to read", and a book in their arms, being held up tight as if were their baby, believe me, that person must fit perfectly the description of crazy for books. Anyhow, if she was not someone who was not even interested in the books, why was she there? A very good question, a question that not even herself was able to respond. Ari was bored, her heart needed some action, fun, something with which to entertain herself, or perhaps someone who she could torture. But torturing gently, without chains or something like that. We don't have to be extreme.
<p>
She was wandering through corridors, surrounded by the shelves that were full of books. Wow, perhaps there was someone that had read all those books? Because if indeed that person existed, she or he must have an extraordinary knowledge. Wait, why was she surprised by the knowledge of another person when she was also owner of a vast knowledge? I mean, maybe not as vast as someone would think, but still! she had learned a lot about the human world with those little trips she had taken, as well as she had learned more about other worlds- as Wonderland, Neverland... and yeah, maybe she wasn't a walking encyclopaedia, but she knew some things.
<p>
Ari sighed, why did she even care? guess it was one of her many, many quirks. Wait, was that even the right definition for quirks? Ugh, did it even matter?. Wait, how could be caring be a quirk? whatever. Arista slightly smiled to herself, her fingers touching new or wear out covers of each book carefully, placed with love. She supposed that to work in a place like that, a library, you had to be someone who was madly in love with those worn sheets of paper, filled with black ink, black strokes that most of times had a story...
<p>
She sighed heavily, biting her lower lip, drawing from one of the shelves a book that talked about animals. Domestic or wild, mammals or amphibians... All in one book, its details remain hidden in some pages. Arista returned to smile, now by opening the book, browsing between its pages, her eyebrows rising. "No pictures?" she asked, to the air, apparently. "An animal book, and there are no adorable images to accompany these boring words?" it was outrageous, right?. "Elephants are extremely intelligent animals, with a brain that weighs 5 kg. They can understand more things than any animal, except for the whales. It is even demonstrated that they understand some words and follow simple instructions if they are taught correctly... Fine, amazing! But where is the picture of the brain? Some of us want to see it!".

She did not know how to feel about Storybrooke. It was a city that had quite a few interesting characters, perhaps even one of them was worthy of her attention, and besides, she also had heard that magic there used to succeed, something that also supported her condition, because you see, she expected that not everyone would act in the same way upon seeing a mermaid.
<p>
Some could scream in sheer terror, others could explode with joy, others might suffer a nervous breakdown... There were too many options, too many possible reactions. And the truth is that Arista didn't want to take the risk. Who knows, maybe in that city there could be a fishmonger who wanted to cook her or something. After all, many of the fishermen always had wanted to catch a mermaid...
<p>
Although she could never understand the why of that, as by what would a fishmonger do if they indeed fished one of her kind? eat them? because if so, they would have to be out of their mind completely. Perhaps to dissect them and sell them to a museum, as a kind of trophy? She had heard that people did that with animals that some hunters hunted... something that seemed monstrous, by the way.
<p>
She sighed, and when getting up of the bench, she bumped with someone, something that she had obviously not anticipated. She backed away, rubbing her forehead, frowning, not even bothering to ask if the other person was alright. "Oh come on, where are you eyes? in your fat bottom?".

The sea always had been able to calm her nervous nerves, and she always used to go there when she needed to relax. I mean, for most part of her life she had lived between sea, so it was slightly difficult for her not to be in love with that vast blue. That infinite sea that she knew perfectly that many people were terrified of, although they should, because after all the big blue kept too many dangerous creatures. Please, people just knew nothing of the sea.
<p>
Most of them even thought that mermaids didn't exist.
<p>
They believed that they were simply a tale, a legend... that they simply were those who sang to the sailors, to be able to entrance them and drown them. And let's see, that was true, but not all mermaids did that, there were some who preferred to stay in the pacific side, not wanting to sing to sailors to cause subsidence.
<p>
And you see, yeah, in favor of the popular belief, mermaid indeed had a voice that could enchant any man, but Arista barely used it. I mean, of course, she sang sometimes, but there was a difference between normal singing, and between using the gift with which all mermaids were born with. That voice, the most voice beautiful and sweet of all, some might say.
<p>
She sighed lightly, sitting on the beach, watching the waves come and go. She knew that two of her sisters were in Storybrooke, the two sisters she had been months looking for, those same sisters who had destroyed their family. Some think that the daughters of Triton all got along perfectly well, but oh, how wrong they were... Arista was sure that she would not be able to find one of her sisters and not start to scream.
<p>
She didn't want to see them. She wanted to know nothing of them. The family was something that she at that time didn't want.
<p>
Another slight sigh. Now Arista got up from the sand, and began to walk towards the water, without removing anything, because she already had a nice bathing suit on, although it would not last long, because to make contact with the water her tail would take the place of those legs.
<p>
Although the young hastened to slip into the water when she heard someone approaching the beach. She knew that magic was allowed in Storybrooke, but no one had seen her in her true form, and she did not want to leave someone in total shock only because they had never before seen a mermaid.
<p>
Although now she just looked like a young lady who had decided to swim, because obviously her tail was not visible. But she didn't want to take the risk. So without wasting any time, she introduced herself completely under water, because after all, breathing was not any problem.

<h1>the love of a family</h1>

<h2><span>is life's greatest blessing</span></h2>

<p>
She had been months looking for her sisters, but the noble cause with which she had proposed to leave her family had been interrupted by her own family. Arista ceased to look for her two sisters who had decided to leave and not return for a long time, because after all, they had decided to leave in the first place, so she supposed then then they wouldn't want to be found. And okay, she understood that Aquata had left behind Ariel, wanting to find her and maybe bring her home, but father could not stand not having the younger one at home, he could not endure without one of his daughters in Atlantica and less even when another one decided to follow the footsteps of her younger sister. Arista for a time had understood it. She had accompanied Ariel on several adventures, both earning a light scolding from their father, and she understood and knew perfectly that Ariel wanted to see the world, she wanted to explore it. But - abandon her own family in order to do so?.
<p>
Arista had supported her for a long time, as she had supported Aquata
for pursuing her, or just as she had supported her sisters for acting so... diplomatically with the wishes of their father. But now? After everything that had happened? Now Arista preferred to live without the problems that family brought, and she had distanced herself from them without even looking back. She had a rather hysterical fight with her sisters before leaving them behind, and though she wouldn't admit it, sometimes she came to miss them. But how wouldn't she miss them? They were her sisters, she had been with them her whole life, she had been raised with them... but since Ariel and Aquata were gone, they were not the same. They were more responsible, more silent, more obedient... they had become... more boring.
<p>
And although Arista might understand why they behaved like that, it didn't keep her away from hating that new behavior that they had adopted. She had not changed! Well, now she wad... Arista wasn't anymore the girl she long ago had been. That energetic and compassionate girl who always was trying to lift the mood of her sisters. Now she was certain that none of them wanted to see her face, except probably Aquata and Ariel, because they surely wouldn't know a thing about what had happened. But the problem was that Arista was the one who would not see their faces nor in paint. After all, she blamed them of what had happened. She blamed them for destroying their family. They had escaped, and had left her sisters with the wrath of Triton, because although he was their father and they loved him - it wasn't pleasant to see him when he was angry.
<p>
He had become even more overprotective and controlling when both were gone... everything had changed, and it was their fault. And at the beginning Arista didn't even think about that possibility, but now it was the only thing that she could think about. Now family wasn't something important to her, it no longer mattered. She had been well living alone, visiting new and mysterious sites... Her and Nixie, no one more. She didn't need anyone else. Now for example she was not especially good, because apparently, as she had heard, she could not leave Storybrooke. Which was a real shit, because the only thing she wanted to do was to get away from there!.
<p>
At least she could relax on quiet nights like those in the docks, where no one seemed to be. She was walking on top of them, her sight resting on top of the water. Water that seemed to be black oil, due to its dark color. Many people were frightened of water when it was tinged with that peculiar color, and then there were others who were afraid of water no matter which color it had. Arista could understand them... the ocean could be dangerous, and it was rough and full of creatures that humans did not know about. How can't that frighten you?. Arista looked briefly at the ring she was wearing, ring which allowed her to have sea legs whenever she pleased. She wondered if Ariel or Aquata had one of those too... She shook her head and sighed, leaping into the water.
<p>
In a wink, her tail appeared, her beautiful salmon tail, and her seashell too. Oh, that was so refreshing! She stirred up the tail under the water, and laughing to herself, she plunged herself under the dark water, without realizing that she was not the only one who had decided to take a night dip.
<p>
Opening her orbs under water, rather that being a mermaid it did not irritate her eyes, she could see a well known red fire hair in the distance... it could not be. Please, she couldn't be there. "Ariel...".
